I'm still amazed at how few people actually understand what SGI speed is all
about. Yes the Alpha processor is one of the fastest on the planet. And that
has a direct correlation to the speed of RAY TRACING renderers like LightWave.
And fast floating performance helps. Silicon Graphis hardware is designed for
the REAL-TIME manipulation of Textures and Geometry (i.e. truly interactive
modeling). *NOT* Ray traced rendering. Use a machine for what it's good for.
SGI for Real time viz, simulators, etc. Yes, buy the Raptor, send Bill Gates
some more money, and Render LW images. It's a better price / performance
